TECH TIP #2:
Adding Dayton on Disk 2000 to Mechanical Desktop

PROGRAM: Dayton on Disk 2000
OS:
Windows
CAD SOFTWARE: AutoCAD2000, Mechanical Desktop 4.x, 5.x
PROBLEM:
By default, Dayton on Disk 2000 is "plugged in" to AutoCAD 2000. Some users have requested the ability to use Dayton on Disk 2000 from within Mechanical Desktop Versions 4.X and 5.X .

Possible Complications of Use:
* Mechanical desktop is a 3D solid modeling package that runs inside of AutoCAD.
* Dayton on Disk 2000 only draws 2D objects.
* Dayton on Disk 2000 blocks cannot be 'revolved' or 'sweeped' without first 'exploding' .
* If a Dayton on Disk 2000 block is exploded, it looses all attribute information needed for the LOM generator

Procedure to Add toolbars to MD:
NOTE: Dayton on Disk 2000 must first be installed into AutoCAD2000

  1. Open Mechanical Desktop
  2. At the command prompt, type:
MENULOAD <ENTER> (The "menu customization" dialog will appear)
  3. Click the Browse button (Menu customization dialog, file name section)
  4. Inside the Autocad 2000 folder, select the file: Dayton_LOM.mnc
(This is placed here during the Dayton on Disk installation)
    i.e. C:\Program Files\ACAD2000\Dayton_LOM.mnc
  5. Click LOAD (In the "menu customization" dialog)

The Dayton Toolbar should now appear and be fully functional.
